Strawberry - Fingering-Weight Assigned Pooling

Strawberries that knit themselves into your work. This hand-dyed assigned pooling yarn creates a strawberry motif as you knit: the contrasting sections in the skein become berries when you work them in a special stitch. No colourwork, no stranding. The yarn does it for you.

This is a directional yarn: start from the marked end and the motif appears exactly as intended. My step-by-step video tutorial walks you through it, and it works even if you've never tried assigned pooling before.

Superwash (Deluxe Merino Sock)
Fiber content: 85% Superwash Extra Fine Merino Wool, 15% Nylon (19.5 micron)
Weight: Sock or Fingering weight, 4 ply construction
Yardage: Approx. 400 m (437 yards) per 100 g skein
Origin: Australia (The wool used for this yarn is ethically sourced from non mulesed sheep.)

Non-Superwash (Merino Fingering-Weight)
Fiber content: 100% Non-Superwash Extra Fine Merino Wool (19.5 micron), mulesing-free
Weight: Fingering weight
Yardage: Approx. 400 m (437 yards) per 100 g skein
A note on this base: as with all non-superwash yarn, the skein can feel a little more rustic straight off the needles, and blooms into something wonderfully soft after its first wash.

Recommended needle and hook sizes and gauge: needle size 2.5 to 4 mm (US 1.5 to 6), crochet hook size C to G, gauge (stockinette stitch): 28 stitches x 36 rows over 10 cm (4 inches) using 3.25 mm (US 3) needles

Speckle colour has recently changed from brown to blue, so in some pictures you'll see the old palette and some have the new. If you prefer to have either colour of speckle, please let me know when ordering, I'll see what I can do for you!
